REGARDING YOUR EXAM
A comprehensive eye examination is needed to make a diagnosis and to formulate the best treatment plan. Drops are often placed in the eyes to dilate (open) the pupils. This enables the doctor to perform a detailed exam of the retina, nerves and blood vessels in the back of the eye. When your pupils are dilated you can expect blurring of your vision and light sensitivity for several hours after your visit, hence the need for sunglasses and a driver.
A complete exam may take anywhere from 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on what additional testing may be required. Please plan accordingly.
