| About Dr. Bellows...
Dr. Bellows continued his training at the University of Pennsylvania where he completed his training in eye surgery at the Scheie Eye Institute. In 1981 he became certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Bellows is a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American Society of Contemporary Ophthalmology, the New Hampshire Medical Society, the Hillsborough County Medical Society and the New Hampshire Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. In addition to his work at the Eye Center, Dr. Bellows is an instructor in ophthalmology at the Tufts/New England Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. He has served four terms as chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, New Hampshire. He currently serves as co-chairman of the Laser Committee at Optima Health in Manchester, New Hampshire. Dr. Bellows has been involved in two recent clincal studies. The first was research that led to the approval of intraocular lens implantation (following cataract removal) in children. The second was a clincal trial that eventually led to FDA approval of the excimer laser for the correction of myopia (nearsightedness) and astigmatism. Dr. Bellows' primary area of interest is in eye surgery. This includes laser surgery for the correction of myopia and astigmatism as well as surgery for cataract and glaucoma. |
